"Because of Debi and Colonial ... we are now able to provide better quality transportation services to our students"

– Jack Powell, West Nottingham Academy

I’ve worked with Youth, Teen and Summer Camp programs for almost thirty years with the YMCA of the North Shore. Years ago, we had ample use of 12- and 15-passenger vans but, as safety concerns arose, we’ve eliminated the use of such vehicles. Subsequently, we struggled to afford to run our smaller-sized trips and outings that didn’t warrant a full-size bus. With the loss of one of our 8-passenger vehicles this summer, I began looking for a used replacement vehicles, up to and including a 14-passenger mini-bus. We were intrigued by the prospect of the Narrow Body Student Activity Bus offered by Colonial Equipment Company, especially with the competitive pricing. The sales specialist, Debi MacKown, was exceptionally helpful and accommodating throughout our decision-making process.  She was accessible at all times and quick to respond to our emails. Furthermore, from our initial inquiry, to arranging the sale and delivery, to answering all my post-sale inquiries, Debi has been a shining example of what customer service ought to be everywhere. We’ve now used the bus regularly over the past 6 weeks and are exceptionally satisfied with the vehicle and the strong support and our relationship with Debi and the entire team at the Colonial Equipment Company is frosting on the proverbial cake.

Executive Director of Teen & Camp Services YMCA of the North Shore

You gave an excellent training to our large groups of trainers (20 in all). I really appreciated your willingness to answer so many questions and your zeroing in particularly on people who are new to this. Our staff came away from your training with a real appreciation of how important the correct procedures are in protecting the safety of the people we serve and everyone else in the vehicle. You were also really diligent in showing us what to do if things don't work out correctly, for example if the lift stops working when someone in a chair is in the vehicle.

We very much appreciate your contribution to our mission of service.

Colonial is a great place, if looking for a specialty vehicle that serves individuals with special needs. St. Peter’s Adult Learning Center, Inc., a licensed state program which serves adults with intellectual disabilities recently purchased (12/11) a 2006 Chevrolet Shuttle bus from Colonial. This writer visited Colonial without an appointment but was treated with the utmost courtesy and interest by the staff, specifically Dennis Kavanaugh. After inspecting several vehicles, one was identified as a possible addition to our fleet. This writer was referred to Louis Ricci (Regional Manager) who answered each and every question regarding the vehicle.

Once St. Peter’s made the final commitment to purchase the vehicle the transfer was seamless and absent of the typical purchase anxieties and frustrations. Colonial inspected the vehicle, completed the MVA title transfer, obtained the specialized disability tag, installed the tag to the vehicle upon receipt, completed paperwork to negate the excise vehicle taxes (saving of $1620), and filled the tank ($100 value). Louis was very careful before receiving any payments that all the necessary steps were completed to our satisfaction. Finally, Colonial with Louis offered our staff a (1) hour tutorial on the use of the vehicle, how to properly integrate a wheelchair bound person to the vehicle, all while training the staff on how better to utilize the vehicle to better serve our members.

St. Peter’s Adult Learning Center, Inc. and this director would highly recommend to any agency or individual seeking a vehicle to assist them with purchasing a vehicle to transport their individual with special needs to Colonial Equipment, Co. They are a great resource to the disability community.

Chip Woods, Executive Director, St. Peter’s Adult Learning Center, Inc

I have shopped several dealers in order to get the best price within our budget. With being a non-profit organization, it’s not easy but Louis, the sales rep at Colonial ..., was able to work within our budget & had a vehicle in-stock that suited our needs. Louis personally delivered the vehicle to us & offered wheelchair training for my drivers at no extra cost. Because of his service, I would recommend Colonial Equipment for our next purchase to others.

James, Transportation Director, Moveable Feast Inc

I was very impressed and appreciative of Colonials responsiveness to our needs and willingness to work with us to a win-win deal, not only in the purchase of our beautiful new bus, but also in taking care of a minor issue which Colonial went many miles out of their way to correct at our convenience. Never did I feel ;pressured or manipulated as I have had many times, in my life, buying cars.

Ted Ramsey, The New School Of Northern Virginia

[We] Spent a fair amount of time searching for our latest shuttle bus purchase, including on-line.  We decided to go with Colonial because their prices were better and their sales and service departments are outstanding.  Would recommend Colonial (Louis) to save money and time.

West Nottingham Academy is a private high school located in a rural area. Because of our remote location, we rely heavily on our bus fleet to transport students back and forth to school and to athletic and cultural events. With a growing student population, we found ourselves in desperate need of another 14-passenger bus, but simply couldn’t afford a new one and thought we would never find an affordable used bus in good condition. We had all but given up on our search, but Debi MacKown and Colonial  didn’t give up on us. After several months of faithfully searching the market on our behalf, Debi located just the right bus in good condition at a price we could afford. Because of Debi and Colonial, we are now able to provide better quality transportation services to our students with minimal impact on the school’s cash flow. Many thanks to Debi and Colonial for being more interested in helping out a customer than in just making a sale.

Jack Powell, Business Manager, West Nottingham Academy

I have worked with Colonial and Craig Combs for a number of years and I continue to choose this company because they understand my business needs, and do everything they can to ensure my vehicles stay on the road.

Colonial gives us great customer service by responding promptly to our telephone calls and e-mail requests; providing on time vehicle delivery plus complete and accurate documentation. The combined "transportation knowledge" of Colonial has been an invaluable resource to my team.

Thank you for your support.

Pamela Rieser, Transportation Manager, Greenspring Village

We recently purchased a bus for our school from your company.  We worked with Debi MacKown on this purchase.  She was very helpful on this project.  She kept us informed on everything and brought the bus to us on 3/15.  We are very happy with all that was done by Debi & Colonial and your staff.  Debi also was helpful in getting the bus lettering.

A few months ago our church decided it was time to enhance the ministry of our church by buying a bus. Having no experience with this process, we were fortunate to find your company and North Carolina sales rep John Adams. His willingness to visit our church with a vehicle made the process so much easier and gave our committee the information and peace of mind it needed. The bus has now been in action for a few months and we wonder how we made it this long without one. Every step of the process was so easy, which made my job as church administrator burden free. That final touch of having the exterior lettering done has gotten rave reviews. Our folks are so proud of it!
